SEVENOAKS KENT. UK. Wildlife Trust staff and volunteers at Sevenoaks Wildlife Reserve in Kent create a new Guinness World Record by constructing a bee home measuring five metres by two metres. The Mayor of Sevenoaks declared the start of the record attempt at 10:00, and at around 15:00 the final measurements were taken and validated by witnesses. The bee home will be a permanent feature for the nature reserve, with bees expected to take up residence next spring. The event aims to raise the current plight of bees, with many species in serious decline, and to encourage Kents's residents to create a bee home for their own properties 17 August 2010.
